More deals got done here even as fewer homes came to market. That gap between rising sales and falling supply is the one number every owner and buyer should sit with right now.

At the same time, the National Association of Realtors reported existing-home sales reached 3.99 million in September 2026. Demand moved in the same direction here and across the country.

What the wider picture adds

Freddie Mac put the average 30-year fixed rate at 7.40% as of October 8, 2026. The 15-year rate averaged 6.73%. Realtor.com noted that mortgage rates reached their highest level in nearly three years around that same date. Higher rates slow some buyers. They have not stopped sales here.
